All About Our Story

We Are DBMX
Established in 2010, Doncaster BMX Racing Club (DBMX) is a British Cycling-affiliated club based in Balby, South Yorkshire. We’re here to grow BMX racing locally from first-time riders to national-level competitors in a supportive, community-led environment.

National Champions
DBMX has produced National Champions and riders who’ve gone on to compete at European and World level, but just as importantly, we’ve helped hundreds of riders build confidence, fitness and friendships through BMX.
Our Track & Training
DBMX operates on a private, closed BMX track in Balby, meaning the track is only ridden during organised club sessions. Following major investment in 2021, the track is now fully floodlit, allowing year-round training.
We offer coached training sessions for all levels, with hire bikes and kit available for those new to the sport. Beginners and experienced racers train together, creating an environment where riders learn from each other and progress at their own pace.

What Is BMX Racing?
BMX racing began in the early 1970s when kids in Southern California started racing their bikes on dirt tracks, inspired by motocross. What started as a grassroots movement has grown into a global sport and in 2008, BMX racing became an official Olympic discipline.
British riders have since made their mark on the world stage, with Beth Shriever and Kye Whyte winning Gold and Silver at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, inspiring a new generation of riders across the UK.
Today, BMX racing is fast, physical and exciting, but at its core, it’s still about fun, progression and community.
What We Stand For
At its core, BMX is about more than racing.
BMX racing is accessible, social and open to everyone regardless of age, background or ability, and DBMX reflects that in everything we do.

It’s about confidence, resilience and progression.

It’s about turning up, putting the work in, and backing each other.
