Rules, Categories & Rider Guidance

BMX racing has clear rules around:

  • Rider age groups

  • Equipment requirements

  • Plate colours and numbers

  • Track conduct and safety

If you’re moving from training into racing, it’s worth taking a look at the official BMX rulebook so you know what to expect on race day.

Most riders learn quickly through experience,  but having a basic understanding of categories and regulations helps you feel confident at your first event.
