Racing with DBMX
From First Gate to Full Speed.
BMX racing is fast, technical and addictive, but getting started is easier than most people think.
DBMX competes in the Midlands BMX Region, with events running across the UK season.
Whether you want to race casually or chase championships, there’s a pathway for every rider.

What You Need to Start Racing
Getting started is easier than you think. Most riders begin with three essentials:
1. British Cycling Race Licence
A valid race licence is required to enter official BMX events.
Your first year can often be free depending on licence type.
2. A Transponder (Timing Chip)
All UK BMX races are timed using MyLaps ProChips.
Novice riders can sometimes hire one, but regular racers will need their own.
3. Race Plates
Race plates are mandatory when competing, including side plates. Your race number is usually the last 3 digits of your licence number.

Live Results & Timing
All BMX races in the UK are electronically timed, with results published live throughout the day via Sqorz.
From moto draws to finals, every lap is recorded in real time, allowing riders and spectators to follow the action as it happens.
It’s the easiest way to stay connected on race day and monitor performance across the season.
